My work is abstract color field in style. I use contrasting and harmonious colors with geometric shapes imposed over flat or textured surfaces. I favor strong colors in either earth tones or sharp arresting colors in opposition to each other. My textured paint surfaces reflect the hard environment of the Southwest and are created with crumpled tissue paper, paste medium, and/or trowel marks. Frequently I use charcoal over these textured backgrounds to give greater depth to the surface.
