Owen Sound Portrayed by Artists
Tom Thomson Memorial Art Gallery
In celebration of Owen Sound's 150th Anniversary, the exhibition looks at how artists have portrayed the city by the bay in their work over the past century and a half. Iconic images of the harbour grain elevators, the meandering Sydenham river, the downtown streetscape, waterfalls and parks will showcase the urban beauty of the city, and will chronicle the lives of artists that have chosen to call it home.
The show will draw heavily upon the permanent collection of the Tom Thomson Art Gallery, featuring works by Tom Thomson, George Thomson, Flo Campbell, William Parrott, Roly Fenwick, Kris Rosar, Lorne Wagman, Alan Glicksman, Charles Meanwell and others. The show will also include invited submissions from contemporary artists that live and work in Owen Sound .
Join one of the Gallery's Volunteer Tour Guides for a guided tour of current exhibitions on August 19 at 2 p.m.
