The Art Map is celebrating it's 5th year of publication by incorporating new web site features!
The Art Map web site now features the ability to search for artists by category, location and by name. The artist directory now uses a php database to make finding artists easier. Each artist is categorized by the medium they use. Artists can also be searched by city/town using the advanced search feature. Publisher Barbara Pearn says "The Art Map web site's traffic almost doubles each year. It became clear to me that the site needed to be upgraded. With the new database in place I expect traffic to increase at an even faster rate".
Not only can users benefit from the newly enhanced web site but artists as well. Each artist can edit their own information by logging in with a user name and password. They can also add up to 20 images of their own work, post hours open, web site link, email and google map location. This is a huge benefit for the artists who may not have their own web site. It also gives site visitors a good feel for what each artist is about.
Grey and Bruce county web sites link to The Art Map web site and now Sunsets.com, a regional tourism site of the Lake Huron shoreline.
For the past five years ColourPix has published 20,000 printed maps, and distributed them to local tourist information booths, Ontario Travel Centres, county level tourism centres, restaurants, accommodations, the participating artists and galleries and other locations. The Grey and Bruce county tourism vehicle takes maps with them to events along with other publications.
The Art Map is a favourite publication of area residents and visitors alike.
