Marketing Your Art: Starting out

Marketing Your Art: Starting out

Tuesday, December 29, 2015

You are an artist. You create artwork. You want to sell your artwork. Now what?

First of all you must decide what type of artist you are. Are you a part time artist, a hobbyist, or are you the type of artist that is very serious and would like to make a living at your art? Any type of business that you are in requires selling as part of the process. If you want to sell your work, you are in business. Without sales you are no where. You need to think like a business person. Not everyone is suited to business or selling. You need to ask yourself, "Can I do this?"

It's very valuable to think about who your ideal customers would be. Who is going to buy your art? What income level are they at? Are they women or men? What do they do and enjoy?
